The site is still on holidays but I'll post some memories each month.
Quintessence Nook (15/5/2022)
It was only 20 years ago, but let's look at some loonity from May of 2002.
Blue Crystals, Blue Ray
Sometimes I am lost for words. This is just such a time. It is just as well, then, that this site contains words like "Now watch the blue crystals as they slowly move to your crown chakra . . . You begin to 'hear' that which you could never 'hear' before. Your consciousness expands . . . You may feel a pressure on top of your head. Next the blue crystals enter your third eye chakra allowing you to 'see' beyond human limitations. Again you may feel a pressure in your head area. They move down entering and clearing your throat chakra. Once again they enter your heart chakra balancing your higher chakras to enable you to be more creative . . . more intuitive. The feminine/intuitive aspects of who you are are now opened to receive that which must be shown to you at this time. You may feel a pressure in your chest area. Now watch the gentle blue crystals enter your solar plexus releasing the emotional energies stored in that area. They spin and twirl and clear that which needs to be healed. You main feel a release in your stomach area".
Ancient Egyptian Flying Vehicles
It has always been obvious that only an extremely advanced civilisation could build pyramids. For example, how could simple, primitive people get the point at the top in place when it is so far from the ground? I know that some short-sighted fools have claimed to know that the Egyptians started building pyramids from the bottom and only put the point on last, but how advanced would that be? Anyone can stack rocks into a pyramid shape, but that doesn't mean that the Egyptians had to do it the way we would do it today with our limited technology and knowledge of construction practices. Now that evidence has been found that the Egyptians had helicopters, submarines (and subsandines for use under the desert) and even gliders that modern man only rediscovered by going to the movies, we have to reconsider our opinion of these ancient masters. Now there can be no doubt.
Yowie footprint photos
Australia is a land of strange and dangerous creatures. The bush and the backyards contain some of the most venomous snakes and spiders in the world. The water at any beach is a seething cauldron of sharks and box jellyfish. The very centre of the place is occupied by herds of baby-eating dingos. In between there are feral kangaroos and carnivorous wallabies, and flying above it all are cockatoos, fruit bats, giant green cicadas and, worst of all, vast clouds of sabre-toothed bogong moths which can strip a cow to a skeleton in less time that it takes a piranha to say "Let's do lunch". Despite all this we residents are a stoic lot and, apart from brushing the occasional vampire fly from our faces, we live in peaceful coexistence with the fauna. Until a yowie comes along, that is. Even the two-metre tall eastern winged koalas are afraid of them. Just look at that bite on the tree!
Cydonia. Cartography and Art
Mars is usually just a red dot in the sky, but thanks to this site we can now see it as if we were standing right next to it. I think that it is wonderful how the aliens have allowed us access to this fabulous museum. What is also impressive is the way they have shown consideration for older humans who may be suffering from a little presbyopia or short sightedness. By using print that is visible from low earth orbit, they have made it possible for people who have misplaced their reading glasses to join in the wonderment. Thank you, ETIs. Like all museums, this one takes us back to explain history. Until now I was unaware that "the fact that LOH is really rooted in the teeth of powerful 'PANTOCRATON' indicates the draconian law which had to be implemented when orderly (along megayears) the human habitats had to be transfered to underground massive domes"
Something new that's actually something old
I've written a lot of short articles and news items here over the last two decades. Each month a couple of these pieces will be randomly selected. They might not always still be relevant, but that's the way history works.
We've got you taped, you're in the play (10/7/2004)
Those words from the Jethro Tull song A Passion Play came into my head when I saw a quack named Darrell Stoddard on television this week fixing people's pains with what appeared to be electrical tape. This wasn't on some advertorial morning show, but on what used to be regarded as the best investigative journalism show on the box. One of the statements which caught my ear was that this tape conducted electricity because it contained Mylar. This plastic is used as the substrate on audio- and videotape and computer backup tapes where electrical conductivity does not seem like a good idea, so I looked in the logical places and found this safety warning from DuPont, who make Mylar:
Because of its good dielectric properties, a thin plastic film of Mylar™ run at high speed can pick up a strong charge of static electricity. This is usually caused by rapidly separating the film from an idler roll or similar equipment. Unless this charge is dissipated as it forms, by using ionizing radiation devices or special conducting metal tinsel, it can build to thousands of volts and discharge to people or metal equipment. In dust- or solvent-laden air, a flash fire or an explosion could follow. Extreme caution is needed to prevent static accumulation when using flammable solvents while coating Mylar™. Solvent-coating equipment should incorporate the means for detecting and extinguishing fire. Plastic wraps used on rolls of Mylar™ may also accumulate static charges, so caution should be taken when unwrapping a roll in a dust- or solvent laden atmosphere
So this quack is using something which the manufacturer says has "good dielectric properties" to increase the conductivity of bicycle tape. This indicates that his spiel is aimed at scientifically illiterate people and that he doesn't care that one of his major claims for his product can be proved to be a lie with almost no effort at all. The organisation promoting his book and selling his $30/metre tape wouldn't care either, because another product advertised on their web site cannot, as far as I know, be sold legally in Australia. What makes this scam worse is its apparent endorsement by a high-rated, supposedly responsible, reputable television news and current affairs show. The quack's site was displaying the words "As seen on A Current Affair" the next day. (Two nights later the show ran a story about someone curing a child's behavioural problems by "detoxing". I think I know what I will be writing about next week.)
I love the disclaimer on the quack's website, where it says in the smallest possible type that can be displayed on a computer screen: "We make no claims on this web page that Biotape™ will stop, heal, or relieve pain. It is offered for sale only for research purposes-to explore the Chinese definition of pain. The only claim we make is that Biotape™ connects the 'broken Chi' (endogenous electrical signals in living tissue) which traditional Chinese medicine defines as the cause of pain". I was trying to think of a suitable nickname for Darrell Stoddard, and I suddenly thought of "tapeworm". How convenient is it that not only does it mention tape, but it is also the name of another parasite?
All of this and some of that's the only way to skin the cat.
And now you've lost a skin or two, you're for us and we for you
I sent the following email to the television program. I do not expect an early answer.
One of the bizarre statements made in the story about Biotape on July 7 was "The tape looks and feels like electrical tape but it contains a polyester substance called Mylar and instead of insulating, it conducts electricity, in this case, our own".
According to DuPont, who make the stuff, Mylar is an insulator. In fact, they have safety advice about how to minimise the danger from static electricity when using it.
Of course, this is just a minor point when the story was about someone who is selling tape for $30 per metre (that he buys for cents a metre) in order to defraud desperate people who are prepared to try anything to ease their chronic pain.
I remember when ACA used to chase crooks through the streets, not give them free advertising.

The Food Babe. Stupid or just a moron? (22/11/2014)
Sometimes someone comes along who is so impenetrably stupid that you feel that their brain could be used in place of depleted uranium in anti-tank weapons. Then you find someone who is so stupid that their brain would cause light to bend as it passed around their head. Such a person is Vani Hari, the "Food Babe". The amazing and terribly discouraging fact about her is that she manages to be accepted as an expert on nutrition. She appears in the media, she charges large fees to speak at conferences and exhibitions, her knowledge of science is less than that known by my dog (and he wouldn't be offended if I said that he doesn't know very much at all).
Here is something she published just recently and I don't think it needs any comment beyond the words she wrote herself to indicate how incredibly stupid she is. This is not just an ignorance of science, it is an ignorance of common sense, and ignorance of things which should be obvious to a small child.
I'm on the plane to LAX, the first leg en route to our first stop – Tokyo! I can't think of a better time or place to write this article.
Airplane travel, is unfortunately (and fortunately!) a big part of my way of life. I'd be surprised if you added up the amount of travel I have conducted for work and personal if it didn't end up being a full year of my life. For this reason, I set out to find out exactly the best strategies to keep your body energized, free of aliments, and flying high when you are on the bird!
A few facts about what airplanes do to your body -
When your body is in the air, at a seriously high altitude, your body under goes some serious pressure. Just think about it – Airplanes thrive in places we don't. You are traveling in a pressurized cabin, and when your body is pressurized, it gets really compressed!
Compression leads to all sorts of issues. First off your body's digestive organs start to shrink, taxing your ability to digest large quantities of food. Secondly, this compression reduces the ability for your body to normally circulate blood through your blood vessels. Sitting down for long hours while this is happening, exacerbates these issues, leading to what they call "Economy Class Syndrome." Economy Class Syndrome results the action of sitting in a cramped space for a long period of time, thus resulting in blood flow loss to the legs. A unhealthy person or someone who eats a poor diet, smokes, has heart disease, diabetes or an auto-immune disorder has a larger risk of developing DVT, which basically causes a blood clot in your one of your large veins in your leg and you risk death.
Additionally, the pressurized cabin reduces the humidity by 40% of what humans typically thrive at. The Sahara Desert has more humidity at ~25% than your airplane does at ~10%. Remember your body is made up of 50% water, if the humidity is reduced by 40%, your body becomes very dehydrated, very quickly and usually without you feeling the effects until after you get off the plane. Dehydration causes all sorts of issues from fatigue, headaches, constipation, light headedness and even death in extreme cases.
The air you are breathing on an airplane is recycled from directly outside of your window. That means you are breathing everything that the airplanes gives off and is flying through. The air that is pumped in isn't pure oxygen either, it's mixed with nitrogen, sometimes almost at 50%. To pump a greater amount of oxygen in costs money in terms of fuel and the airlines know this! The nitrogen may affect the times and dosages of medications, make you feel bloated and cause your ankles and joints swell.
Did you know certain countries require that airplanes and even passengers be sprayed with pesticide before they take off? This means if you are visiting one of these countries you are breathing in these fumes potentially all flight, especially if they were sprayed on board. Horrific!
Ok enough horror facts about airplane travel (especially while I am flying right now!). Here's my Food Babe tips on what you can do to avoid and/or protect yourself of all the facts I mentioned above.
